Back in 1995, we collected accommodation facilities in the Nordic countries in a database on the Internet. Hotellguiden, the first search service for accommodation in the Nordic region, was born! At the time, the family business was one of Sweden's first internet service providers with activities such as fashion pool, web hosting, website production and domain registration. Many accommodation facilities' first websites saw the light of day through us and many collaborations and customer relationships started in this way.
In the years following the IT crash of the early 2000s, digitalization took off, even though the first smart phones had barely arrived. International booking sites were rapidly launched on the Swedish market - all bookings had to be made online! The small family business in Kållered had to innovate to survive.
Avisita is born
We went against the grain, launched a personalized booking service and had the pleasure of getting to know a whole new group of customers - companies in infrastructure, industry, construction and customer groups who live away from home for long periods of time. Our project accommodation offer was born!
As the business from our new customer group grew, the business needed to be transferred to a separate company and Avisita AB was launched with pomp and circumstance at the TUR fair in Gothenburg in 2005.
More clients became aware of our expertise and our ability to design tailor-made concepts for our customers. In the years leading up to the pandemic, Avisita therefore also ran an extensive business as a booking partner for international sporting events and congresses. Still with accommodation as the core product.
It's on the slopes you go
When the Corona pandemic struck in the spring of 2020, the travel industry went into free fall and we lost all event assignments. But despite all the restrictions imposed by the pandemic, we at Avisita experienced a form of orderly chaos. Our loyal project accommodation customers remained steadfast and for us it was a clear indication of what our focus should be going forward.
Our way forward
So here we are, 30 years later, many experiences richer and full of knowledge and ideas on how to solve all our clients' challenges around good project accommodation. We now proudly call ourselves a booking partner for project accommodation for our customers and coin the term accommodation management to make it clear that it is about so much more than just booking a place to stay.
